Staying on a floating cottage

RELAX.

You're in for an extraordinary experience.

Here, you'll spend unforgettable moments in peace and quiet, or in good company. Experience a new everyday life close to water, nature and the pleasures of the great outdoors.

WARM UP.

With wood stove or propane furnace.

Each floating cottage is equipped with a fireplace and two thermostatically-controlled propane furnaces.

When your fireplace isn't heating your cottage sufficiently, you can turn up the heat using the wall furnace's thermostat. It will heat until the required temperature is reached. When the heat input from the sun or woodstove exceeds the temperature set on the thermostat, the furnace automatically cuts off the gas supply.

It is important never to turn off the furnace completely. Set it to "low".

  • The success of a good fireplace depends on the chimney; the heat must be forced down the chimney.

Step 1 - Position the air intake valve, located at the bottom left of the fireplace door, all the way to the right, to give your fire the maximum amount of air.

Step 2 - Make a teepee from dry kindling without bark, placing a fire starter in the center. Use the matches in the firebox or the electric lighter in the kitchen drawer to light it. If necessary, there are more firelighters at the bottom of the firebox. This may take a few minutes.

Open the front door of the chalet slightly to bring fresh air close to the stove. Leave the stove door slightly ajar. A little smoke is normal. It usually takes 10 to 15 minutes for your tipi to catch fire. If necessary, add more small pieces of wood without bark.

Step 3 - As soon as you see that the heat is rising and flowing efficiently down the chimney, add a small log, making sure that the bark is facing downwards. Leave the door ajar by less than a cm, for 15 to 20 minutes, until the log is well lit. Then close the door and check a few minutes later that your fire is alight. When it is, close the air intake valve a little to ensure slow combustion.

If your fire doesn't seem to be igniting properly, open the door very slowly, just a little, and wait. When the fire has grown in intensity, close the door.

Step 4 - Gradually and patiently feed the stove with more logs. When the fireplace is hot, always use the metal handle in the bottom compartment next to the logs. Don't worry if there's smoke in the cabin - it's normal. If necessary, open a window a little to ventilate.

Step 5 - Relax in your quietly warming chalet.

DRINKING WATER.

For responsible consumption.

The water in your floating cottage is potable, and comes from 18-liter tanks located under the sink. Its quantity is limited: use only what you need!

  • When the hose is not completely at the bottom or the bottle is empty, the pump runs continuously, and you will hear it. To resolve the situation, push the hose back until it touches the bottom of the bottle, then open the tap.

  • When cleaning dishes, use the dishwashing basin and heat up the water beforehand. Dispose of grey water in the sink.

COOK.

2 cooking methods.

You can use the cooktop with propane. Be sure to close the valve after use.

  • To light the BBQ, use the electric lighter in the kitchen drawer or the matches in the fireplace storage compartment. Always close the propane tank valve when you're finished using it. Additional tanks are available near the grey outdoor storage.

TO THE ECOLOGICAL TOILET

In your floating cottage.

This toilet is great: it turns everything into compost. For the magic to work, however, you need to sit on the seat. How does it work? It has two tanks: one at the front for liquids and one at the back for solids. The latter is covered by a blue lid that opens... when you sit down. Tadam!

  • Place toilet paper directly in the toilet when seated.

  • Don't throw away any food or feminine hygiene products, as she doesn't digest them well.

  • To say bye-bye to odors, turn on the fan. The switch is on the wall in front of the toilet.
